Tornado - January 2008

January 7, 2008 tornado changes the Jacques' life

First of many tornados in southern Missouri that night
Shortly after 6:30 PM a tornado rated an F3 touched down very near the Jacques' home and began a journey of many miles of destruction and death

The Barn
The barn was 44 X 72 with 14' sidewalls and was built to house the Light for the Lost cooking equipment. The bus is 30' long and is named Ole '53 and the smoker trailer is 20' long. The barn was the first building hit and was totally destroyed.

Rachel Lawson's Home
The tornado then hit Jan Jacques' mother's home next. It was a direct hit and the home was completely destroyed. Rachel suffered a head injury from flying debris and died at the hospital at 10:00 PM that night.

Don & Jan's home
Flying debris from the barn did a lot of exterior damage to the siding of the home and broke out a lot of windows. However, the most severe damage was created when many of the roof shingles were blown away and subsequent storms during the night brought over 3 inches of rain. Their home and furnishings were soaked.
